WHERE TO GO, WHAT TO SEE

Zakynthos is famous all over the world because of Navagio (meaning shipwreck in greek), considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean, due to its dazzling white sand and the half - buried shipwreck. Do not not leave the island without reaching this beach of unique beauty.

Zakynthos is also known as island of Caretta - caretta (an endangered species of loggerhead turtle, protected by greek and international legislation) and Monachus - monachus (the Mediterranean seal, another endangered and protected species). zante-caretta

Lagana bay is one of the island's shore where Caretta - caretta lays its eggs. Unfortunately, it is forbidden to approach certain areas in this bay during the summer months, but if you get lucky you may see the turtles swim around..

Don't miss the chance to see and swim in the crystal blue water of the Blue Caves (at the northwest coast of the island), named after the incredible blue colour of the sea inside. The caves are accessible by boat.

If you choose to spend some time in the island's capital (Hora), there are many historical places to see, such as St. Marcos Square and Solomos Square. zante-stdionysios

You can also visit the church of St. Nicholas and the church of St. Dionissios (the island's saint), with a monastery and famous museum. At the town's museums (Post-Byzantive Museum, Solomo's, Kalvo's and Prominent Zakynthians Museum etc.), you can experience the local history.
